NSE and BSE Market timings: On the stock market, stocks are traded every day. Many investors and dealers make selections about buying and selling on the NSE and BSE. The stock market is open for business every day for trading on the stocks and derivatives segment, with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays and exchange holidays notified in advance by the exchange.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) & Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in India is open for trading from Monday to Friday, except for national holidays declared by the exchange.
The regular trading session of the NSE & BSE consists of the following timings:
- Pre-opening session: 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM
During this session, orders are collected and trades are executed at a single price.
- Normal market session: 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM
This is the main trading session, where buyers and sellers trade in various securities listed on the BSE.
- Post-closing session: 3:40 PM to 4:00 PM
This is a session for price discovery and order matching, which happens after the regular trading session ends.

Note that there are also additional trading sessions like the pre-open call auction session, special pre-open session, and closing session for various types of securities. Additionally, the exchange may modify trading hours based on various factors like market conditions, holidays, and events.
